The Best TV Shows to Binge Watch During Lockdown

Whilst our Saturday evenings were once spent in cocktail bars socialising with friends and family, due to lockdown they are now spent donning your best pyjamas and a messy bun whilst watching the last boxsets on Netflix and BBC iPlayer. Today I wanted to share with you the shows that I see ‘as the ones to watch’.

Normal People (BBC iPlayer)

It seems that the whole world seems to have been captivated by the love story of Connell and Marianne! Consisting of twelve episodes, Normal People is a coming-of-age drama that explores the topics of first love, friendship, and most importantly, men’s mental health. This fantastic series is truly refreshing and personally I’ve never seen anything like it before. I’ve also loved listening to the Obsessed With…Normal People Podcast on BBC Sounds, and I’ve also ordered the book. I am well and truly hooked!

Hollywood (Netflix)

Although it may have all the glitz and glamour of a 1940’s blockbuster, Hollywood exposes to the dark side of Tinseltown. Focusing on themes such as adultery, racism and homophobia, this latest creation from Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) shows exactly what risks people had to take in order to make it big in the film industry. Hollywood is sure to make you laugh and cry!

Unorthodox (Netflix)

If like me you love to learn whilst you watch, Unorthodox is the show for you! Following the story Esther Shapiro, this drama mini-series introduced me to what it is like to live as female within the Hasidic Jewish and to the extremities they must go to be accepted. I would also recommend watching the follow-up behind the scenes documentary titled Making Unorthodox.

Thank you for reading,

lots of love

Hannah, x
