A Review of Shea Moisture

Hello, my Lovelies!

Since I had my hair bleached last year, I have really tried to make more of an effort when it comes to looking after my colour treated hair, maintaining both its texture and colour, whilst sticking to a minimalistic hair routine.

I was recently kindly gifted some of the new launches from hair brand Shea Moisture, including the Argan Oil and Almond Milk Smooth and Tame Shampoo and Conditioner Duo. With extracts of marshmallow root and cherimoya, the range is created to transform fine, frizzy, straight and wavy hair into sleek and shiny locks!

I have combination hair, as I have an oily scalp and the lengths and ends can feel dry and straw-like, as well as having frizzy roots. When using the range for the first time, I was impressed by how a little amount of product went a long way, especially with having long, thick hair. The shampoo lathered up well even when using a small amount, and I found that once rinsed my hair felt thoroughly cleansed of oil and dirt. Following the cleanse, I then applied a thicker layer of the conditioner to my hair to mid-lengths and ends of my hair, as these are the areas of my hair that tend to feel the driest and brittle. I left the conditioner to soak into my hair for 1-2 minutes, before rinsing out to ensure my hair had thoroughly soaked up the product.

Once stepping out of the shower, I then towel dried my hair and brushed the Umberto Giannini Blow Dry In A Bottle A Big Shiny Blow Out Spray through the lengths of my hair before blow drying with the LANAIBLO hair dryer. Although my hair felt weightless and cleansed when washing, once I had begun to blow dry my hair I found that my hair felt weighed down and greasy, especially at the roots, whilst the lengths of my hair felt silky soft.

Although this shampoo and conditioner did not personally work for me, as I think is due to me having combination hair, my mum also tried out the duo for the first time, and due to her having frizzy dry hair the formula of the products was absolutely perfect for her,  so if you have a similar hair type I would highly recommend that you pick up this range for yourself!
